Reviews of the BD-P1400 Samsung
Below are a selection of reviews of the BD-P1400 blu-ray dvd player.
Review One
"I bought my BD-P1400 last week and took it home and got it set it up straight away. It looks good next to my samsung TV and I connected it using the hdmi lead. Setting up the BD-P1400 only took five minutes literally. Think it's called "Aninet" or something similar. It came up straight away to connect the leads together and configure the settings to be 720p or 1080i resolution.
Someone told me a BDP1400 can take a long time to load up a disk but I watched "Blood Diamonds" and it only took 30 seconds. I did check to see if my BD-P1400 might need a firware update but it was fine so I left it. The picture is very good quailty and after I connected it to up to my surround sound system by the optical lead I had fantastic sound to go with it. Even even my old dvds look good, this BD-P1400 being connected with the television lets me put the disk in and it automatically turns the TV on and puts it to the right settings. Well worth the money - just looking for new blu-ray dvds now."

Review Two
"While I agree with other reviewers - the BD-P1400 is an excellent introduction to blu ray, am I really the only person having problems with my remote control? It seems a dead giveaway that it's a fault known by Samsung - it's listed as the first item in their troubleshooting section - "No operations can be performed with the remote control"! What happens is that from time to time the BDP1400 just doesn't respond to the remote control. It seems to be an issue with the remote itself (and it isn't battery related). I have read about the same thing happening with the BD-P1500. The instructions in the manual work, but I've now had to reset my remote four times in less than a week of having the player. This involvesd pulling the batteries out of the remote and then having to hold any button down for several minutes to reset the microprocessor inside. If you're planning to watch a movie, you have to factor in the remote reset before you start. The remote does transmit something, it just isn't something the player will respond without resetting the remote. Samsung - any chance you could spend more than 5 minutes designing a remote for my BD-P1400 that works all of the time?"

Review Three
"I connected my new BD-P1400 to my Samsung 46" LCD television, and my Logitech Surround Sound home cinema. On first start up the BDP1400 detects what specification your television picture is and installs itself automatically. Just a word of warning though, if your HD Ready TV was bought before 2007 it isn't likely to accept 1080p resolution. Mine is now two years old and is only 1080i resolution. This doesn't stop the Blu-Ray picture being excellent though and it upscales my old dvd discs into a much better quality picture. I played the Blu-Ray dvd "Die Hard 4", it loaded up in less than two minutes and also played DTS surround sound. IT was a bit funny with my "Spiderman Trilogy" boxset, the loading icon stayed up on the screen, but I switched off at the plug and re-started and they all played fine next time. This is probably a firmware issue which I need to update via Samsung. In conclusion I would give 5 stars for picture and sound of my BDP1400 especially considering its reasonable price."
